Saying “No, I think you covered everything” is a massive red flag. It shows a lack of curiosity and preparation. An interview is a two-way street; you need to interview them just as hard as they are interviewing you.
Questions That Show You Are a Top Performer
1. The “Success” Question
“Fast forward 12 months from now. If I’m standing in your office and you’re telling me I’ve exceeded all expectations, what exactly did I accomplish?”
This forces the interviewer to visualize you succeeding in the role and gives you exactly what their true KPIs are.
2. The “Challenges” Question
“What is the biggest challenge the person in this role will face in the first 90 days?”
This shows you are realistic and ready to tackle problems head-on.
3. The “Culture” Question
“Can you tell me about the last time someone on the team made a major mistake, and how it was handled?”
This is a brilliant way to uncover toxic management. If they say “they were fired,” run. If they say “we did a post-mortem to figure out the process failure,” it’s a great place to work.
