Senior Certificate (SC) Registration for 2026: Official Guide for Adult Learners

Adults who qualify to write the 2026 Senior Certificate (SC) examinations must register between 1 October 2025 and 6 February 2026. Late registrations are not accepted under any circumstances.

Where to Register for the Senior Certificate

- Adults (21+) with an incomplete National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- Exceptional cases only:
- Out-of-school youth aged 18–21
- Must be verified and approved by the Provincial Head of Department
- Adults (21+) who already hold a qualification but want to improve their results or status
Important Rule: NSC vs Senior Certificate Conversion
Adult candidates (21+) with an incomplete NSC may choose to:
- Complete the NSC, OR
- Convert to the Senior Certificate (SC)
⚠️ Once you convert to the Senior Certificate, you may NOT return to the NSC.
This decision is final and should be made carefully.
e-Registration Requirements (Online Applicants)
Before registering online, ensure you have the following:
1. Valid RSA ID Number
- Only candidates with a valid South African ID number may register online
- This ID number will appear on your final Umalusi certificate
2. Valid Email Address
- Your admission letter and official correspondence will be emailed to you
- Free email services (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo) are acceptable
3. Valid Cell Phone Number
- A One-Time PIN (OTP) will be sent during registration
- You must have your phone with you to complete the process
